Alabama Hunting and Fishing licenses are available at the Probate Office as well as in many sporting goods stores and marinas. It is illegal to willfully or knowingly make a false statement to a license agent when purchasing a license. It is also illegal to lend, borrow, sell, buy, rent or use another person's license to hunt or fish.
Hunting licenses are required for residents 16 years of age and under 65 years of age. Alabama is one of 49 states which has a mandatory hunter education program. All first time hunting license buyers born on or after August 1, 1977, must have successfully completed an approved hunter education course.
Fishing licenses are also required for residents 16 years of age and under 65 years of age, who fish with rod and reel or artificial bait in public waters. This license is also required to fish with hook and line outside county of legal residence.
All boat owners must register, renew or transfer ownership at the Probate Office. The Alabama boat registration system is on a staggered basis, the renewal months in which a vessel owner shall register the vessel are as follows:
